Haight wanted to kill the party. He bowed to the request of Morrill who got enough of the council to force him to agree to send a message asking BY what to do and then Haight did what he wanted to do anyway.

Why did Haight want to do it? BY’s rhetoric is a part of that why. I agree with you there.

Saying the council sent a message asking BY if they can kill them is simply untrue and counterproductive to your main point
