Stated "bring down the thunder" this HS was originally started in 1842 so over a century and a half of existence before a 2nd school was created on the north side of town in 2007 and they chose the mascot as the "blue thunder".

So they chose to be named the very thing that the original school sang religiously at games to bring DOWN...
