...I've noticed a concerning gap between the BYU fan community's game-day energy which has been nothing short of admirable, and their basketball "analysis."

The level of hoops discussion--especially here on CB--is lacking. Quite often embarrassingly so. And there seems to be a correlation between the least informed fans responding in the most emotionally visceral way. The less informed the fan, the bigger the emotional outburst.

I want to emphasize I appreciate the passion of this community--the Marriot Center at it's best rivals any top college environment IMHO.

My hope is that this same passionate community will show patience as players and coaches navigate their inevitable first-year challenges in this renewed Big 12 conference (last year was a massive fluke), and resist turning against them during difficult stretches.

My impression of BYU fans has been so positive this year, and I don't want that to change.
