They are awesome at what they do, but they aren’t an F150 or Tundra, but don’t expect those trucks to be a midsize
Either. Midsize is more nimble, less payload, better off road performance and I’d say on the whole (trim matters), a better “car”
Half tons have better payload, better highway “cruising dynamics” (less so around town), roomier cockpits, and dimensions that aren’t off road friendly.
It’s up to your uses. The half ton class is the most popular truck for many reasons, but I would be happy with none of them. I’d be happy with any midsize truck on the market though.
I prefer 3/4 ton or 1 tons for work and midsize for play, some people prefer a half ton as a compromise between the two, but it doesn’t work for me.
Trucks aren’t cheap, when you enter the market it’s important to buy the truck that works for you, regardless of what you believe you want because of what others tell you to get.
For many, this means even looking at the compact trucks (maverick and Ridgeline) and ignoring the stupid “man card” jokes. They are great trucks for what they do.
The gladiator?? It’s an excellent midsize truck and an awesome Jeep Truck, and are prime candidates now for negotiation as they have a backlog and Stellantis is hurting for cash flow.
So if you can be in the market for a gladiator, now is the time.
