My point is that the current system (which marries minimal, selective enforcement with very few rules/regulations) is a terrible system.
Either eliminate these rules in their entirety (is tampering against the rules or not? because it's certainly happening) or enforce the rules that we have and replace/supplement them as necessary.
I think we're heading for player unionization and pay for play, and I welcome both of those developments... The only thing standing in the way (IMO) is Title IX and all the strings that go along with it (can you use public money to support football teams in a way that some judge won't interpret as being discriminatory?)
