I'm in construction, but I do very little actual building. So, I use the word 'build' very loosely.
Anyway, we built 18 of these 'cabins.' They mostly sit empty except about 3 months out of the year. They also get used for AirBNBs. We built for the developer but got to know many of the buyers quite well. The client who I came to know very well bought the home originally for about $3M, back in 2008. We then built them another full 8,000 sqft custom home and guest house within the same community. The original cabin is a 4 bedroom, 4 bath home with a 2 car garage. After finishing their main home, they continued to keep the cabin despite receiving repeated attractive offers. Then for some unexplainable reason about 10 years ago they put the home in a California trust. Once they did that, the wife said they'd likely hold on to it for a long time..
Apparently a long time is 10 years because last year they sold it to a former NFL QB for $13M. To me, that's just insane that that home sold for that much but such is the market in Jackson Hole.
