But seriously, just like for all of us, moving kids is a very serious consideration. Always assuming a coach wants (or should want) a different situation, promotion, etc. ignores that most parents highly prioritize stability for their kids, or at least are weighing pros and cons of moving them and coaches will likely frequently (like many of us, if given the option) prefer to not have to move their families, even at the expense of real or perceived career advancement.
It just always surprises me, in all of the coach talk around here, how this factor is often so ignored. We seem to understand it sometimes in talking about transfers or why players make different choices (at least acknowledging there are often unknown factors that weigh in) but not so much with talk about coaches.
