These are my personal top 10 locations for Egor for the 2025 draft. I'm looking for an organization that I believe will give Egor the best chance to succeed in the NBA. I capped this at teams that will have a top 15 pick. I know he hasn't been playing well, but, currently, Egor is a top 15 pick. (NBA drafts off upside not production) This is what I believe Egor needs: Time to develop, a role on the team that makes sense long term, and an organization with their crap together.
Didn't make the cut: Hornets (wouldn't fit with melo and bad organization), Washington (bad organization), Rockets (already has too many young players and Amen Thompson would take his minutes), Kings (I have no idea what they're trying to do)
Short list:
10. Bulls
9. Raptors
8. Minnesota
7. Nets
6. Blazers
5. Thunder
4. Heat
3. Pelicans
2. Jazz
1. Spurs
With each team, I'll attach their current stats and their salaries going forward.
10. Bulls
I have no idea what the Bulls are doing. They have veteran guys who could contribute on a championship team, but they should have moved off them a while ago. Now they're 10th in the east, again, seemingly without any direction. And their first round pick from last year (Matas Buzelis) is riding the bench, averaging about 5 minutes per game. There's plenty of time to develop on the Bulls, but IDK how Egor makes them better as he seems to fit the roles Lonzo and Giddey play (although, both those guys will be free agents next year.) This organization seems to be a mess and I wouldn't want to throw Egor into that.
9. Raptors
The Raptors have been in asset collection mode. They've got a lot of young interesting pieces, but that quickly needs to change as they start building around Scottie Barnes. Barnes was signed to a 5 year, $220 million dollar contract that starts next year. How are the raptors going to build around him? However they do that, Egor does not seem to fit. Scottie is the big, ballhandling point guard, and IDK if there's a long term role for Egor there.
8. Minnesota
Minnesota has fallen off a lot after the KAT trade. It's been a major flop for them and they now sit at 9th in the west. They've got a set identity and a proven commodity in Ant. Egor would have time to develop here behind Conley, as his contract ends in 2026. Egor could learn a lot from Mike and would be set up to take over PG roles. However, the timberwolves drafted a PG last year in Dillingham. There is an opportunity for Egor and Rob to play together, as they could guard different positions, but I don't know how they would fit on offense.
7. Nets
The Nets are slowly making their way into full rebuild mode. They started off the year hot, and have since cooled down. With the Schroder trade, I imagine they're looking to trade off Cam Johnson soon. Egor would be one of the first pieces in the Nets rebuild. He'd be given plenty of time to develop and learn on the court. I do worry that Egor would not have much talent around him for the first couple years. I don't know how well he'd do. It'd be similar to throwing a baby into the water and hoping he learns how to swim. There's a big chance for failure here.
6. Blazers
I originally had the blazers around 10 on this list, but the more I look at these pieces, the more I like the fit. The blazers have a scorer slasher in Scoot, a good wing in Sharpe, a defensive anchor in Clingan, Anfree Simons, and some veteran pieces to round out the rotation. The Blazers need someone to connect all the pieces together. They're ranked 28th in the league in assists. That's where Egor can excel. Blazers have offensive and defense talent, and Egor could be the piece to finally come in and connect everyone together. I think he makes sense here. The one piece that doesn't fit is Simons, but his contract ends in 2026. Egor could use a couple years to develop and maybe take over if Simons leaves the team.
5. Thunder
It's hard not to have the Thunder in the top 5 because they are such a well run organization. Players develop well in OKC and the team chemistry is off the charts. Egor would have plenty of time to develop. They key for Egor (and why I think he's a good fit) is Egor gives OKC size. For as good the Thunder are defensively, they're one of the smaller teams in the league. Adding a 6'8", athletic PG would help them. The reason I can't put them higher, is the Thunder drafted a foreign PG last year in Nikola Topic. Topic has been out with injury this year and probably won't joint he team till next year. The Thunder don't seem like an organization that would draft another PG over Topic without letting him develop.
4. Heat
The Heat currently seem stuck, after making the finals in 2023. Jimmy Butler wants a contract extension, and Pat Riley isn't going to give it to him. Along with that, they've got a good core of young players, highlighted by Tyler Hero. They don't currently have their PG of the future. Rozier runs point for them and his contract ends in 2026. This would give Egor time to develop under "Heat Culture" and learn from Rozier. I think this is a good fit. Players develop well in the heat system and Spoestra is an all time great head coach. I wouldn't be worried about Egor here.
3. Pelicans
If you are an NBA fan, then I'm sure you're surprised at me having the pelicans here. There's two things to remember, the Pelicans have had a ton of injuries this year, so they aren't as bad as it currently looks. And 2, Zion is a bum and will get traded for some interesting assets. Let me sell you on a vision. It's 2026, and the pelicans roll out Egor Demin(6'9"), Herb Jones (6'8"), Trey Murphy (6'8"), Brandon Ingram (6'8"), and Yves Missi (6'11). That is a lineup you can sell to people. The Pelicans front office loves size and versitility, and Egor fits the mold. They would give him plenty of time to develop behind Murray. I wouldn't worry too much about Murray as he's been bouncing around a couple teams recently and hasn't been playing up to his contract. I could see him getting bought out soon.
2. Jazz
The Jazz need a point guard of the future, and they've got a 6'9" PG playing in their back yard. Don't need to overthink this one too much. The one question is does Egor have enough talent and support around him to excel? He'll need some time to develop in the NBA and won't been good right away. Either way, I'm sure the Jazz organization would be happy to pick him up with their 2nd first round pick (around 14 right now).
1. Spurs
The Spurs picking up a foreign PG of the future only makes sense. Pairing Egor with Wemby also makes a lot of sense. The only issue, is the Spurs drafted a PG in Castle last year, and Castle's agent made it clear that Stephon was only going to an organization that need a point guard. Would adding Egor ruffle feathers? Sure, but having an oversized foreign PG paired with Wemby just makes sense for the Spurs.
