Re: Transfer Portal. The BYU coaching staff is nailing it
The number one priority is to retain the majority of your team (especially when finishing 11-2) and particularly key guys. Holding onto guys like Glasker, Martin, Kelly, Satuala and Marion was critical. The only notable losses are Wakley (who knows what is true here, but there is reason to believe that it is not 100% regrettable) and the Moa brothers. None of them projected to be starters, but perhaps some would be in the 2 deep. And fortunately for BYU these departures were at positions where there is good depth.

The second priority is to fill gaps with ready-to-contribute talent. Carson Ryan, Nu Tanuvasa, and Andrew Gentry fit this perfectly. I think we will see Anisi Purcell and Kyle Sfarcioc contribute as well. Those were key positions where BYU needed people to step in and start.

The third priority is to bring in young talent to be developed. Hunter Clegg and Tausili Akana have a ton of talent and a lot of remaining eligibility. I think both should see the field this year, but with multiple years of eligibility their largest contributions will be after this year.

It appears BYU was very selective in who they targeted and in most cases they were able to land who they pursued. The portal will open again after Spring and who knows what will happen in the topsy-turvy world that is college football, but so far the coaching staff has been excellent in the portal. Its probably fair to say that you should always be looking when it comes to the portal, but so far they have hit most of their major needs.
