2 undefeated seasons, in 2004 and 2008 where they got into the BCS bowl games. Beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. That was pretty incredible and as a single game feat, our biggest comparable is Miami in 1990.
Lately, they went to 3 Pac12 championships in a row and won 2 of them. Had to content with Oregon, USC, UW and others in the conference. Nothing to sneeze about.
I get that they lost both Rose Bowls yet celebrate them as wins. I do not get that at all. I think the boorish, petty, crude and ignorant Ute fan behavior is what we all dislike the most, but it is pretty dang prevalent in their fan base.
I also think Whit has put himself, his team and his players in a bad position these past two seasons through coachspeak and a lack of transparency that has riled up his fanbase, pissed off his boosters and maybe even his players. He has definitely struggled to back up his words and bravado with big Ws these past two seasons.
They have a real strong 25-30 year run going, but they are not yet at the Oregon/USC level as a program they think they are. Some great teams and great seasons, and a lot to build on if they can bounce back from these past two seasons.
