The Columbia river no longer has sturgeon
reproducing because the slack water doesn't allow the silt to get washed off the gravels and the eggs die.

Additionally, the dams hurt the salmon on the way down as fry and on the way back to spawn as adults. I would love to the the John Day and The Dalles dams removed on that river. (I used to live by The Dalles) The narrows of the Columbia and Celilo Falls would come back and be a great tourist attraction.

This would mean another source of electrical generation would be needed. It would also mean barges would need a canal around the narrows to get products up and down rivers. Nonetheless, I think it would be well worth it.
