I went down the shaving rabbit hole and tried $200-300 electric razors. I found that there’s very little difference in shavers beyond a certain point (usually $40-50). In fact, many of the expensive electric razors justify their price with gimmicks (cleaning stations lol) or visually elegant but less-user friendly changes (such as interchangeable shaving and trimming heads, instead of a pop-up trimmer as featured on cheaper models).
I prefer foil shavers (like the Braun) to rotary shavers (Norelco is the best of those IMO). Foil shavers are more precise and give me better control of the pressure of the razor on my face.
Of course, what I ultimately came to prefer is the double-edged safety razor + shaving brush setup. But as you mentioned earlier, that makes your neck break out.
I still use my Braun for touch-ups or when I’m in a hurry and don’t have time for a wet shave.
