I went to both BYU games in Vegas against Arizona and Notre Dame so I’m familiar with Allegiant Stadium. I took my 16 year old son because he is a huge Chargers fan and we bought great seats on the 17th row at the 40 yard line. It was the first NFL game for both of us.
First of all, since the Raiders are out of the playoff picture, I thought the stadium wouldn’t be full. Wrong!! Over 60,000 fans! It felt like an enormous number of the Raider fans fly in for the game. We stayed at the Luxor and probably 75% of the hotel guests were Raider fans. There were also a lot of Charger fans at the game and would guess 15% of the fans were for the Chargers. We sat next to some season ticket holders and they said every Raiders game is close to a sell out.
In terms of the atmosphere, it was electric. Different vibe than BYU games. Obviously, tons of drinking, but we didn’t have any annoying or rowdy fans around us. Everyone was polite and into the game.
The cheerleaders are a bit more involved in the production than at BYU games and performed two different times. Their outfits and cheers are a bit more suggestive than college cheerleaders (but I obviously wasn’t focused on that part of the game experience).
Halftime of NFL games is shorter than college games, which was nice. A rock group performed for about 6-7 minutes. The way that the tv timeouts were structured was designed to have the game finish close to the three-hour mark.
We sat in the club zone, which meant we could order food and drinks from our phone and it was brought to our seats. This made the game experience so much better!! We had our food and drinks within 5 minutes of ordering and the prices were not higher than at the concession stands.
Justin Herbert was phenomenal! The guy is so accurate and calm under pressure. He is easily 6’ 5” or 6’ 6” and sees the field so well.
Obviously glad the Chargers won and the whole experience was amazing. Not sure when we’ll go to another NFL game, but my son and I loved it!
