Starter with no scholarship. If the coach making the decision wanted to keep him, he would offer him a scholarship. He didn’t.

Apparently wants to play his last year or two of eligibility, and I’d just assume probably wants a scholarship and maybe some small NIL money. He has offers and will probably start at the place he goes to. May as well get some money and free school. At least one BYU coach says that won’t be here.

All of the rest of the talk here is way, way overstated—promise (except for the young safeties part—that’s true). Good athlete, smart player. Not elite, and nothing he can do about that. Maybe one of the younger guys will end up being better, maybe they won’t. Definitely have the talent for it, so let’s all hope so.

Wakley is an OK guy, but not a class president type. A lot of people like him; I’m sure some don’t. So, whatever. “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out” stuff? Seriously? You don’t know what you’re talking about. Walk-on who rose to starter and two years with no scholarship. Worked hard, played hard. Loved football and like BYU. How would you criticize someone in that spot? I’m guessing he would have stayed if they gave him a scholarship.
