TNT watched the original for the first time. Yes you read that correctly. No this is not Cougarboard 1978 with punchcards and everything.

Good movie but definitely a slow burn. A few thoughts.

1. Man that first hour was slow. And boring. TNT thought a lot about Pinball/Wonder Woman/Can ARod sign an elite QB
2. It was nice having a very quiet Adrian
3. It didn't take long for drunken angry Paulie to show up
4. Mick: "Women weaken legs." Say it isn't so
5. Gonna Fly Now. So iconic
6. Obviously it was low budget so you can't expect too much but the fights were choreographed so much better in the sequels
7. Apollo was consistent from the very beginning
8. Pretty sly of Sly to only agree to sell his script to the studio on the condition that he would play Rocky

Final score: 9/10 (loses a point for not having a giant Russian fighter who doesn't feel pity or remorse or fear)
