What’s the standard protocol for someone who buys a car, and gets into a wreck,
before they can get that new car on insurance?
Does the insurance company backdate coverage?
Let’s also assume that the person at fault does not have enough coverage to fully cover the damage.
TIA

With my State Farm policy, it covers a new vehicle for 30 days under my existing policy.

Most insurers give you a 30 day grace period to add a new vehicle to your policy
