playing defense, creating missed shots and turnovers, and turning those chances into transition buckets while they aren’t set. We don’t have reliable enough shot-makers to break those guys down 1x1, barring major improvements from Egor and Catchings. There aren’t many other great options to attack that team with how they swarm the pass, and we nearly beat them at their own game last year when we held Houston to 41% shooting.
The biggest problem with today’s game, IMO, was our transition game was either extremely poor or negated by failure to rebound and collect loose balls. Our guys need to be the more physical team to win the boards and loose balls in the BIGXII, and if they aren’t there is no gameplan or coaching strategy to win these games. Still, there does need to be a better plan in transition if we can’t beat fast players to the rim, and Keita is going to find he guys open on the perimeter more often than not in those situations when he’s chased.
Not time to panic just yet, it was a noon tip-off on the road in early January, but hopefully we can improve at these parts of the game which will create easy offense.
