Defense than your average team.

They can play extremely handsy defense and lots of pushing and grabbing on rebounds. Refs know they can’t call everything, because of they did, then that tough and physical defensive team would have too many fouls called on and they wouldn’t have enough players to finish a game.

So they only call the most egregious contact on that team. While much less contact is whistled on the less physical and less tough team.
