Is 1000 really that much different than 990? It’s like the 45 pound plate at the gym, every guy can lift 135 because that is a nice round number with one 45 in each side. If the plates were 50 lbs then everyone would be able to bench 145 instead.
The best example is a triple double. How is 10 points 10 rebound and 10 assists better than 28 points+13 rebounds and 9 assists? It’s not it’s just some weird arbitrary thing.
