The Air Force brought me to OK about 17 years ago. We elected to get out of the AF and stay here because our oldest kids had just started high school when the AF tried to move us again. Our kids have great friends (many nonmembers with similar values). The economy has been strong as long as we’ve lived here and housing prices haven’t shot up like they have in Utah.
I have lived in lots of areas during to the military, and the church is stronger here than most of the places I have lived outside of Utah. The temple has been here for about 25 years and a temple has been announced for Tulsa. In the OKC metro area there are 4 stakes. Plus, parts of northern Edmond are assigned to wards that are part of the Stillwater Stake.
It’s not an exciting place to visit, but it’s a great place to live… even better now that BYU is in the Big12.
