Sometimes online systems are so dumb. I just went to log into a medical provider. I had the username/password saved in a
password manager, but the site rejected the password and sent me to a password recovery page. I entered in the email address associated with the account, and they said they emailed me a code to reset the password. Only the recovery email never came. I verified it wasn't in the spam folder or anything like that and tried again. Again, no email came. Waited until the next day and tried a 3rd time- same thing.

I finally called the number for technical support. The lady there tried to look up my account and couldn't find it. She asked when the last time was that I logged in and said that if it was over a year ago, the account might have been flagged as dormant. She suggested I should just register a new account. I registered for the "new" account, and what do you know, it immediately found my medical records. I had to jump through a few more hoops to re-link those with the account but then everything worked.

Its just really stupid that the default behavior for these "dormant" accounts is to redirect them to the password recovery page that doesn't work because they never send the recovery email.
