World Juniors (for those new to hockey)
For those of you who are new hockey fans, the World Juniors are a very significant event in the hockey world. Even though it doesn't get tons of attention from US sports media, it's a big deal. It's essentially the equivalent of March Madness in the hockey world.

Basically, the world's best major junior hockey players (ages ~16-21) from the best hockey countries get together over the Christmas/New Years' holiday weeks for a major tournament.

This includes many of the best NHL prospects from around the world.

Currently, there are several UHC prospects playing in the tournament, including 2 from Czechia and one from Finland, both of whom are in the final 4 semifinal games happening tomorrow. Here's specifics about UHC's prospects in the tournament: https://www.deseret.com/sports/2025/01/01/utah-hockey-club-world-juniors-update/.

Canada was just upset by Czechia yesterday in the quarterfinal, so team USA (probably the current favorite to win for the second year in a row) will now face Czechia tomorrow. Team USA having some fun in this tournament right now:

Meanwhile, a big rivalry match is brewing in the other semi-final game where Finland and Sweden face-off tomorrow as well.

Here's the schedule overall: https://www.iihf.com/en/events/2025/wm20/schedule.

Games are broadcast live on NHL Network at 3:30 (Sweden vs. Finland) and 7:30 (Czechia vs. USA).
