Hill likely wants more speed at SS, though — & therefore probably couldn't promise him a starting role this year. He might've even encouraged him to move on for the sake of his own career, who knows?

I wish Crew the absolute best. He's a great player who's worked his butt off for this team. But he's too good to finish out his career as a ST ace.
