Because the previous 2 seasons they waited until close to the All-Star break to decide they were gonna tank the rest of the season. I hate tanking, but if you're gonna do it....then go all in.

With the next 2 drafts supposedly having generational, franchise changing talent in them, if you're a bad team then and want to tank...then do it.

Besides trading for a 35 yo who while still a good player, his best days are behind him. If the Jazz had already tanked and gotten a Flagg or Dybansta then wanted to trade for Butler to use for a run or a mentor then I get it, but the timing to trade for him isn't now.
