Basically it comes down the to the fact that for the most part the SEC schools, the footprint, and and the alumni are relatively poor compared to the rest of Power football. So in the long run, if football success becomes an NIL arms race among boosters the SEC programs could be in some trouble. My counterpoint to this would be that relative to the rest of the country SEC fans are willing to give up more of their wealth for their schools to field better teams so that helps even the NIL playing field. And while they are both new additions, the oil money behind Texas and Texas A&M is an outlier among the rest of the SEC.
