... see how the Big 12 conference play shakes out? If BYU finishes in the top 40% or so of the conference, won't they basically/likely be in the tournament, because there will be a certain number (I know that number is not guaranteed) of invites from the Big 12? I know that is not a perfect way to look at it, but if BYU finishes in the top 1/3 of the conference, they will be in.
I think it is more of if BYU is barely .500 in conference play that the Lunardi stuff will help show if they get in or not. Of course it will help shoy if they are getting a 4 seed or an 8 seed or a 10 seed or something like that. But as far as simply getting in the tournament, they just need to try to get into the top 30%-40% of the teams in league standings. Hopefully they are even better.
