In residency, I was presenting at a conference in NYC. I found a really cheap Airbnb and went for it. Showed up according to the check-in details to find the guy who owned the 2 bedroom apartment was going to be staying there still. Which I guess is the point of some of the Airbnb, but I hadn’t ever experienced the owner of the rental also staying. Guy was weird. Said that he had spent time in Wyoming and knew some Mormons. Okay, whatever, it was cheap and we didn’t have much money. Went to the conference, and got back about 1030pm and went to bed. Pulled up my email as I was getting ready to go to sleep. There was a new email from an early 1900s era apostle, with the subject line “hello, this is Satan.” The email was an anti-Mormon screed with the added fun of details on how the author was planning on possessing Mormon souls for eternity. I most definitely put a chair under the door handle and then didn’t sleep much that night. Got up in the morning and got out…
I definitely put a complaint in. This was about 10 years ago. Just checked, and the guys listing is still up.
