BYU ended the regular season at #17.
I don't believe they will or should but Iowa State (#18) could possibly leapfrog BYU. Illinois would be a real longshot but may jump up as well after beating South Carolina and the success of the Big 10.
But BYU should jump....
#15 Miami (10-3), lost to Iowa State
#14 South Carolina (9-4), lost to Illinois
#13 Clemson (10-4), lost to Texas
#12 SMU (11-3), lost to Penn State (and BYU)
#11 Alabama (9-4) lost to Michigan
Assuming we don't get leapfrogged by Iowa State or Illinois, that should get BYU up to #12. If Duke somehow pulls off a stunner vs Ole Miss (or if the media acknowledges that the SEC was vastly overrated this year), BYU could be fighting Boise State to be #10.
Not bad when I expected BYU to be in the #10-12 range for the Big 12 this season.
I expect that they will hold out on releasing the final poll until January 21st? I wonder if the large gap from the bowl games to the National Championship will result in a some odd votes.
