BYU is inching closer and closer to becoming a great program. When I compare BYU Football to an exceptional business, I think of these attributes.
1) Develop a phenomenal, easy to understand vision and mission.
2) Develop a winning, positive culture.
3) Hire people who can execute your vision while exemplifying the culture.
4) Empower your subordinates to lead.
5) Develop leaders who will lead by example and hold others accountable.
6) Develop a culture that attracts the very best talent.
7) Establish an ownership mentality among your staff and players.
8) Treat your competition with respect.
9) Be nimble enough to stay ahead of the competition. Know their tendencies - strengths and weaknesses and be able to exploit them. (Our game planning is getting better all the time!)
10) Stay humble and businesslike. Let your accomplishments speak for themselves.
I have not been totally on the Kalani bandwagon until this year. What I have seen is his tremendous leadership and exceptional strategic planning as a CEO. He seems to be doing everything right. Now with most pieces in place, I don’t worry so much about recruiting because talent will want to play for Kalani. Plus, BYU has its NIL act together.
He has established a great vision and culture that people are buying into. And the results speak for themselves. He is also getting guys into the NFL, and they are thriving. These kids are noticing guys like Puka, Fred, Kyle, Fred, Tyler and others excelling on the big stage. Very excited about the future!
