"Heading into the Alamo Bowl, the Colorado Buffaloes weren’t just battling BYU on the field; they were also battling off-field struggles. According to Jason Whitlock, the team had run out of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) funds, forcing them to operate on a tight budget. While BYU players enjoyed lavish gift bags and a classic bowl experience, Colorado’s players were left wanting more.
Whitlock revealed, “They had to do everything on a strict budget. BYU players got amazing gift bags and had an amazing bowl experience. Colorado was on a very strict budget, and the players were frustrated by it.” Speaking to my own source, it was reiterated that Colorado’s gift bags were not as amazing as we have seen from other schools. “They got a hat and t-shirt for their bowl gifts.“ This frustration seemed to trickle down to their performance on the field. The Buffaloes, who had been competitive for much of the season, fell flat in a 36-14 drubbing that Whitlock described as “much worse than the score suggests.”"
