Report from the game
Pretty decent crowd overall, but again it's disappointing to see so many unused seats in large chunks 4-8 rows up at mid-court. Fantastic seats. Should NEVER go to waste. Totally inexcusable. They need to make an announcement about opening those up to folks from the upper bowl, or penalize season ticket holders that don't sell/release the seats, or something.

So fun to see the showcase of Tanuvasa and the big cheer he got. Also I think I saw Xavion Staton and family members escorted to seats a few rows behind the players.

There were I believe several NBA scouts there. Middle-aged dudes sitting together with NBA logo shirts and typing on laptops and notepads and tablets the whole game, leaving a few minutes early. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what it looked like to me. They had great seats near mid-court.

Saunders was on fire from the tip. So fun to watch. He and Fouss are easily my two favorite players. Richie was by far the best player on the court on either team and brought it on both ends of the floor. The arena on a couple occasions broke into "Rich-ie, Rich-ie" chants.

Only other game I've been to this year was vs Idaho, which was a terrible game in which we were down most of the first half to a lousy team. Our defense was abysmal in that one. Grateful to see a big turnaround. The defense has been great the past 3.5 games.

Baker was awful in the first half.

Knell really struggled the whole game offensively. I'm not exactly sure why he couldn't find the open looks he normally gets, but I have to assume ASU schemed to make sure he was covered, because he had very few.

ASU also seemed to either just have the types of players that match up well with Fouss, or they schemed for that as well and really managed to shut him down. He seemed forced to play far away from the basket and we had essentially no post play the whole game. That was a bit frustrating to watch. Coaching staff needs to find a way to make sure we can get something consistently out of either Keita or Fouss, it's going to be critical at some point.

Thankfully, Keita was pretty good on the offensive glass.

It was pretty ugly for Demin, and I'm hoping it was mainly rust after a month off, but wow those were some bad TOs. Five of them!

Hall was not great, but he did hit a nice three I think in the first half.

There were several calls the crowd just went nuts about, but I agreed with the ref. For example, Crawford defending a layup did foul, and I wasn't upset about the non-call on the ASU big slapping the ball away from Demin on the breakaway. So don't ever say I won't give the refs credit. However, they did seem to allow a lot of rough play from ASU all game. Saunders was held on one drive and no call, and ASU was pushing and reaching all game and getting away with a ton. To their credit the refs did call a few of those reaches, but should have called probably about 2-3 more at least.

I think Sanon was the 5* guy we had except for I guess some admissions problem? He looked really good, super skilled offensively. Man I wish we had him instead of Bosko, who unfortunately just isn't giving us much. But then they put Mag on him and they seemed to make things a bit tougher for him. Anyway it's really easy for an athlete to get admitted and get tons of academic support, so for him to not be added to the team is really an indictment of the guy. Too bad.

I was sorry to see things continue to go so bad for Bosko that he didn't get a single minute. But I get it, he hasn't performed well and doesn't know the offense well enough. However, I still hold out hope that as the season goes he starts to get integrated because chances are we'll need to him to step up when there are injuries and foul trouble. Mag and Kanon have been with the team much longer but are just recently finally starting to look like they belong, so hopefully that shows a path for Bosko.

Anyway, great atmosphere, pretty good student turnout, really fun game to be at and hear the students taunting Bobby.
