ASU looks to be a decent team. They are also 9-2 with their only losses to @Gonzaga, and Florida(#6 in Kenpom) on a neutral floor.
4 seniors make part of their top 7 players in minutes, but they have 3 freshman in that rotation. One of the freshman is Jayden Quaintance a 5 star recruit. He's 6'9" with long arms, and has been getting a lot of blocks. One of the other freshman is Joson Sanon, a high four star that BYU had some ties to late in the recruiting process, but was supposedly not given academic clearance for admission to BYU. He is shooting over 50% from 3 on the year so far. Adam Miller is a senior guard shooting 47% from three on the season. Overall ASU is shootin 38.5% from 3 good enough for 26th in the country. A little concerning given that we give up a lot of threes. Their highest usage player is a 6'9" wing Basheer Jihad, who has been very good at getting to the free throw line.
On the plus side for us, they haven't been good at forcing turnovers, and aren't a great offensive rebounding team.
I haven't watched a minute of ASU play, but I think we will need to do a better job limiting 3 point attempts. Fouss has been our most reliable offense scorer, so hopefully he can take their freshman center to school. I'm exciting to see Egor back, though I don't know how much his knee injury limited his practice time.
Sad football is over, but now basketball can really begin. Go Cougs!
