Funny you mention it, this was a 30-06 with 180 grain partitions. That little
whitey never stood a chance...
The rifle has its own story; it's a sporterized Smith Corona 1903-A3, it belonged to my grandfather. He was a bomber in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam - he died while stationed in Germany before I was born. I got it from my uncle a few years back, he used it for years and killed many whitetail with it.
And I'm with you on hunting deer with a 223 - that's a varmint round.
