that's really not it. Absolutely false narrative.
Take AJ for one. Ute fans keep saying BYU wasted $7 million on him, and that's the only reason he chose BYU. NOT TRUE. BYU offered the same NIL as everyone else. The NIL comes from more than just BYU (outside sponsorships like Nike and Red Bull).
Tanuvasa: I realized today they're the family I worked with for a few weeks a few years ago. The dad, even though he played at Utah, is one of the nicest guys I've ever met (kidding about the "even though" lol, just trash talk).
I remember the son as a teenager. He's a spiritual, religious, stalwart, hard-working, humble, kind guy. I was impressed with him at that time.
So when his dad says his son was offered more money to go to the SEC, that this wasn't about money, that Utah offered a similar amount: I'm tired of the false narrative that this was about money. Nu could've made just as much at Utah, maybe more in the SEC. He chose BYU because he felt it was the right thing for him.

Knowing the family: that's how they are. They have their priorities straight. Nu felt good about it and moved.
"BYU just threw money at him" is just false. It's not true. Utah fans need to cut it out. It's not true about AJ nor about Nu.

We forget that these people are people sometimes. I don't even think he's making more money switching... But even Utah players are defending his character:

I'm excited that something special is happening at BYU. I'm happy for NU following what he felt was right for him.
Go Cougs!
