Well, he was positioned on the depth chart to replace Pay at C. UNTIL
stuff happened.
And he found out in reality the staff would rather move guys from other positions — even a guy converted to the OL only in the Spring.
Touching Deep Blue aside, that had to have sent a message. I'd be in the Portal too if I were him (if he wasn't indeed encouraged by the staff to roll his dice there).
