Several decades ago, our family traveled together including trying to visit DC and the Whitehouse.

There were several internet sites, and my friend accidentally clicked on whitehouse.com, which at the time was a porn site. (I haven't made that mistake since then, and this was around 2000-01).

Other than seeing the stately government building's website be co-opted by a porn site, the reason it became memorable was the reaction of my friend's wife, who exclaimed, "Sam, get offf that site now!"

IIRC correctly this was still in the dial up time, or at a time when even the data flow was slow, so it kinda crept onto the screen. "Sam" playfully responded to "Joan", "Honey, we're just doing the cultural exploration as you asked. I can't click out of it just yet."

Joan about blew a gasket.
