Ox, you threw your arms up. I would love to have a rational discussion with you.
I have coached this play (obviously not on the level of BYU football) but the principle is the same. If one D lineman blows the play up you tell your QB to eat it.

There is no automatic throw. It is true the play doesn't have any other options and throwing it at the feet of the receiver is also an option. But if a DL wins and diagnoses the play you can't just throw it to the D-lineman and say you did your job.
