I don't think the casual fan realizes how complex ARod's offense is. I'm comfortable in saying it's probably in the top 5%-10% in college football in terms of complexity. His offensive scheming is one reason why we can be dead last in conference recruiting rankings and still be competitive for winning the conference (Same can be said for Jay Hill).
Very little of what ARod does is traditional basic football. In traditional basic football, the teams line up, and you try to beat the guy on the other side of the ball 1 on 1. You line up and run right at the other team or beat them with speed vs speed. With the lowest rated athletes in the conference, that's not a winning recipe for your overall offensive philosophy.
But when it's 1st and goal on the 6, it's painful to me to not line up and run the ball. I think it's because I'm a little bit old school and think you should be able to make 3 yards and a cloud of dust work for a couple of plays when the rubber meets the road.
