Many prematurely and unfairly anointed Oldroyd as some All American kicker (calling him Jake the Make) after a good sophomore year but wasn’t hardly tested beyond 40 yards. For whatever reason, but seemed like he got in his own head, his FG kicking took a nosedive after that and was never the same (Baylor game was painful to watch him miss) Unfortunate bc he did look promising his first 2 years.
Ferrin seems like the real deal under any circumstance - pressure, situation, conditions, distance. The FG in the Utah game being the most pressure packed and toughest IMO and he nailed it. And as you say, onside kicks just don’t really work but he nailed that as well
