First our car broke down and we had to rent one and leave our car to be fixed in Georgia while we headed down to Florida for a Cruise.

Yesterday my MIL was flying to go on cruise with us. Supposed to land at 3:20pm. Storms in Houston caused a delay. No worries that why we had her fly in so many days in advance in case there was an issue. Kept getting pushed back and looks like it settled at around midnight.

Our hotel didn’t have ABC because of a dish dispute, so I went to chilis at about 9:45 to snack and watch the game. That was the most happening Chili’s I have ever been in. Usually if you go to any hometown restaurant where I live after 9-9:30 you have the place to yourself basically.

During game, flight gets moved back to 1am.
Game ends and I go to Target (because open to midnight here in Miami) and walk around until 11:45pm. Decide to drive to the airport and if it gets pushed back I will just nap in the car.

Get to the airport, walk around a little bit and check and see it has been pushed back to 2:30am. Get back to my car it has been pushed back to 3:25am. Over 12 hours after it was supposed to land. Fall asleep. 30 minutes later my wife calls telling me flight has now been canceled and that MIL wants us to find her a new flight in case United can’t accommodate her. We book her a fully refundable delta ticket for $1100 for that morning at 6am from Houston to Miami (through NYC ugh)

MIL gets to the front of the counter line and they shut down on her. A 70+ woman who has been up since 3am Pacific time and they shaft her.

Delta marks her as someone who needs assistance and make sure she gets on her flight. We had booked her through NYC but Delta rebooks her through Atlanta.

So I come to the airport early to make sure United doesn’t cancel her return flight because their customer service is so far backed up. They claim they won’t but who knows. Also can’t say if she will get any amount refunded for her cancelled flight.(?!)

So I got like 3 hrs of sleep and MIL will be exhausted. We have our cruise tomorrow so hopefully she can recover.

Now we are struggling on where to store our car seats while we are on the cruise. I can rent a 4x4 for like $80 bucks. Just a super expensive trip. Hopefully we are getting all of our kinks worked out.
