1) The biggest takeaway was that the defensive game plan and execution was like nothing we have seen from BYU in ages - for me it was a 1985-esque defensive performance (nothing against other great defenses but 1985 was just that good).

2) This win should shut up the media for a while especially if BYU can use this game to get better. I still think BYU still needs to up its recruiting if it ever wants to be a playoff team. WTS, Sitake has done more with less talent.

3) Retzlaff needs to work on his footwork & mechanics. How good BYU will be next year will depend a lot on his improvement in this area. I don’t think he’ll ever be one if the greats from a passing perspective, but if he can make some notable improvement with accuracy and touch he could make BYU a pretty tough out next year.
