Lost the chance to go the CFP. Just getting to the CCG wasn't going to cut it
We would have had to win the CCG. The seeding from the beginning of the CFP rankings made that pretty clear.
In a situation where BYU and SMU were both 10-2 and lost CCG it would be difficult to defend putting in SMU over BYU
