Seems like saying “we’re going to focus on getting more points” or “we’re going to focus on gaining more yards”. Shouldn’t you be trying like 100% to be successful on every play? No matter what down it is?

Yes I get that you want to into situations with more manageable 3rd downs, but then now you are focusing on 1st and 2nd down? So now which down gets the focus?
