college football is unpredictable, but with Stanford as the marquee
non-conference opponent for next season perhaps BYU's SOS won't be high enough to get much at-large consideration for the 12 team CFP? So it would be get the Big 12 auto bid or bust?

@ECU is a tricky game because ECU could be good enough to win (just beat NC St. in their bowl game) but BYU won't get much credit or SOS boost for winning that one.

Big 12 schedule is challenging because there is lots of depth and usually no gimmees but also few mega SOS boosters. Is AZ getting worse? Perhaps that game is moving towards gimmee territory.

If BYU does move up a notch in football strength to become a perennial contender for getting a bid to the 12 team CFP, perhaps BYU's choices of non-conference opponents for next 6 seasons is a mistake because they are too easy: Stanford, then 2 years of California, then 2 years of Boston College, then Va. Tech. Then SMU again.
