McBride understood when he became head coach in 1990 that the
only way to compete with BYU was to make inroads with the Poly community in the Salt Lake Valley (Glendale/West Valley City/Kearns). Kahuku too.
He did that by hiring Poly coaches & recruiting like crazy. Your post is spot on.
