Ring doorbell directly into transformer?
I’m trying to replace our doorbell. A while ago, our doorbell button got wedged “on” and appeared to fry something in our doorbell system (assuming the chime).

I bought a wired ring doorbell to try and replace our old one. Connected the bypass onto the old chime and the ring worked for a second but now there no power.

Can I remove the old chime and just connect the doorbell to the doorbell transformer? Or do I need to just go buy another chime?

There is one white wire going into the transformer, another white wire going out of the transformer (connected to nothing) and a red wire coming from the door connected to nothing.

I’d upload a picture but don’t know how.
