There's a secondary benefit of producing EV batteries
for vehicles. We get domestic battery production.
The Ukraine War has shown drones are going to be necessary in battles of the future. Being able to produce batteries, domestically, has national security implications as well. Any war with China is going to require the ability to mass produce batteries (along with everything else).
