The only way to increase attendance to non CFP bowl games is to make them played
On campuses of one of the teams playing in it.

Why? Traveling during the holiday season is the worst time of the year to travel.

Most bowl game destinations aren’t places fans want to travel to. Boise, Shreveport, Frisco, Birmingham, El Paso, Albuquerque, Detroit, Mobile. Fans are unable to fly direct to most of these cities or they’re cities that aren’t fun, warm, or entertainment cities.

Non CFP bowl games just don’t matter. The “springboard your next season” is a bunch of crap. Sure you get extra practices with younger guys but that’s about it. Kalani said they didn’t have anything to do but watch every one of Colorados games in preparation of the bowl game the last few weeks. You have to make the games meaningful. If not people don’t care.

Play the games local. The games are for the fans, who wants to play games in empty stadiums. USC/TA&M had 26,000 fans in attendance. Mind you Las Vegas is a fun entertaining city and it drew that low of numbers vs 2 “blue blood” programs. Potato bowl had 10,000 in attendance which from the cameras probably had about 1,000 people in attendance. Bring them back to campuses and sell out the games.
