the indy years. Potato Bowl, Poinsettia Bowl, etc. BYU traveled like a strong mid-major, not close to the P4 level power houses.

I know BYU has a P4 level fanbase, but especially for pre-Christmas bowl games the games that weren't geographically close to Utah just didn't fit well with our fanbase for great attendance.

OU coming off a 6-6 year playing a G5 team still filled that 46K stadium. But also keep in mind that it is a 3 hour drive from Norman, Oklahoma to Amon Carter stadium where this armed forces bowl was held.
