Deion was an up and coming coach at little FCS HBCU Jackson State, but also an FSU alum who had stayed connected to the program. Travis Hunter was the #1 recruit in the country, considered a generational talent and had been committed to FSU, all up until signing day when Prime pulled off the biggest flip in college football recruiting history, convincing Hunter to come to little Jackson State and play for him.
Had Prime been hired at FSU, he would have retained Hunter and probably a lot of other really talented players, probably more than he got at Colorado. Norvell did take FSU to a perfect 13-0 ACC season last year, only to be told his team wasn't good enough for the CFP after star quarterback Jordan Travis got injured, and then players opted out in protest and the team lost the Orange bowl to Georgia.
But then this year, Prime leads CU to 9-3 record, Hunter proves his generational talent label by winning the Heisman, Walter Camp, Lott, Hornung, AP POY, and the first ever to win both the Biletnikoff as best WR and Bednarik as best defensive player, as well as unanimous All-American and B12 defensive POY.
Meanwhile Norvell and FSU go 2-10 in one of their worst seasons ever. FSU fans probably playing "what if' on this scenario for a long time.
